Winemaking:Picked by hand into small, 10kg cases allowing the fruit to arrive at the winery's sorting table undamaged and intact. Picked and fermented separately in 2-tonne stainless-steel fermenters. Each parcel is fermented and matured apart before blending. The winery's resident yeast population (non-inoculated) took 12-14 days to complete cuvaison. The ferments reached temperatures between 14-31°C Celsius.10 months of new to 4 year old French oak barrels. The malolactic fermentation went through unaided (non-inoculated) in springtime; it was then racked back into barrel and allowed a second winter in neutral barrels before being run directly into bottle without filtering or fining. Total time in barrel: 18 months.

Tasting Notes:This is a fascinatingly complex pinot with an aura of harmony from the very first whiff. Blueberries, violets, blue roses, freshly kneaded pastry, dark cherries, fragrant woody spices and wet schist-like, stony notes with more to come in time. The succulent, fresh and juicy tannins are so enlivening, so detailed and so full of energy. Superb, smooth, cherry-flavoured fruit unfurls with majestic, articulate and commanding style. This is enlivening pinot noir at its very finest; it’s a profound expression of place, legacy and commitment to every aspect of producing great wine.
